Mission

Our purpose is to provide the legal community and residents of Kern County with access to legal information services.   

Our goal is to provide current legal materials in a timely manner, so everyone may have equal access to justice. Assistance in using the collection shall be provided by the staff.  

County Law Libraries in California are established and goverened pursuant to the provisions of the California Business and Professions Code, Section 6300 et seq. Section 6360 states that "...A law library established under this chapter shall be free to the judiciary, to state and county officials, to members of the State Bar and to all residents of the county, for the examination of
News and Current Events

Law day at the mall will be held on May 1st from 10:00am to 7:00pm.  There will be representatives from the various bakersfield legal organizations as well as attorneys present for free consultations.  The consultations will be limited to 15 minutes a person, and they will begin at 1:00pm (first come first serve).  The Law Library staff will be participating in law day, so the library will be closed on Tuesday, May 1st.  Please come join us!

For those of you in Lake Isabella: There is now an opportunity to speak with representatives from the Kern County Law Library and the Kern County Family Law Facilitator on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Family Resource Center with the use of video conferencing equipment.
